Following these 1992-3 fiascoes, Congress passed the Institutes of Health Revitalization Act of 1993. The 1993 Act amended the Public Health Service Act to require that ORI be an independent entity in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and that the Director of ORI [1] (Director) report directly to the Secretary for Health (Secretary).
The new Office of Research Integrity is called "HAG" and comprises the Division of Policy and Education (HAG2) and the Division of Research Investigations (HAG3).
