Malpractice Insurance

The final precaution involves medical malpractice insurance. The supervising health care providers should check with their insurance carriers to ensure that supervision of a medical student is insured. They should also get a formal letter from the head of the medical education department at the student's medical school, outlining medical insurance coverage for the student. If there is any question about the extent of this coverage, the health care provider should ask for an agreement with the school to indemnify the provider for any losses caused by the medical student's actions.
