TITLE:  DoD Instruction 6055.1, "DoD Safety and Occupational Health (SCH) Program", 08/19/1998

SUMMARY: This Instruction (1) Reissues DoD Instruction 6055.1, September 30, 1981 and incorporates guidance in DoD Instruction 6055.2, May 3, 19787; DoD Instruction 1000.18, June 29, 1976; and DoD Directive 1000.3, March 29, 1979; thereby updating the policy, procedures, and responsibilities for administering a comprehensive DoD on-the-job occupational safety and health (OSH) program. (2) Cancels DoD Instruction 6055.2 and DoD Instruction 1000.18. (3) Implements the provisions of Public Law 91-596, (29 U.S.C. 651 et seq. (1976)); Executive Order (E.O.) 12196, February 26, 1980; Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), October 21, 1980 as they apply within the Department of Defense.
