TITLE:  DoD Directive 5500.17, "Role and Responsibilities of the Joint Service Committee (JSC) on Military Justice," 05/03/2003

SUMMARY: This Directive: 1. Reissues DoD Directive 5500.17, May 8, 1996. 2. Implements the requirement established by the President that the Manual for Courts-Martial, United States, be reviewed annually. 3. Formalizes the Joint Service Committee (JSC) and defines the roles, responsibilities, and procedures of the JSC in reviewing and proposing changes to Manual for Courts-Martial, United States and proposing legislation to amend Chapter 47 of title 10, United States Code, Uniform Code of Military Justice. 4. Provides for the designation of a Secretary of a Military Department to serve as the Executive Agent for the JSC.
