Appropriate Transfers

A transfer is appropriate only as defined in (c)(2) if the patient will be medically better off in the receiving institution and the receiving institution consents to the transfer. Section (g) limits the ability of regional or specialized facilities to refuse transfers for reasons other than not having a bed available.
