Unreasonable Expectations

If a nurse wants to provide primary health care under the strict supervision of a physician without making independent judgments, becoming a nurse-practitioner is a good career. If the nurse wants to provide primary health care without having to follow every physician instruction to the letter, the appropriate course is to go to medical school. Nurses who are unwilling to accept restrictions on their practice prerogatives can compromise patient care and create substantial legal liability for themselves and physicians.
