Provisions for Children

The general exceptions to the necessity of IRB review apply to children with two exceptions. The exemption for research involving the observation of public behavior applies only when the investigator does not participate in the activities being observed, and the exemption for research involving survey or interview procedures, does not apply to research involving children.
