Department of Defense", 01/04/2001 SUMMARY: This Directive: (1) Implements the
provisions of Public Law 95-452, Inspector General Act of 1978, as amended, which
establishes the position of Inspector General (IG) and the Office of the Inspector General
(OIG) in the Department of Defense, and sets forth responsibilities, functions,
authorities, and relationships as outlined below. (2) Cancels DoD Directive 5105.48, July
