SUMMARY: This Directive: 1. Reissues reference DoD Directive 5015.2, March 22, 1991 establishing responsibility for the DoD Records Management Program, in accordance with reference Title 36, Code of Federal Regulations, Chapter XII, "National Archives and Records Administration," Subchapter B, "Records Management," current edition, under the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence (ASD (C3I)); 2. Updates policy and responsibilities for life-cycle management (creation, maintenance and use, and disposition) of information as records in all media, including electronic; and 3. Authorizes the publication of implementing and procedural guidance on the management of records in the Department of Defense, consistent with references Title 36, Code of federal Regulations, Chapter XII, Subchapter B, current edition; DoD 5025.10M, August 1994; and Chapters 29, 31, 33, and 35 of Title 44, United States Code.
