Absence ", 08/20/1979 SUMMARY: This Directive reissues DoD Directive 1325.2, February 10,
1977 (hereby canceled) to provide uniform policies and procedures designed to minimize the
occurrence of desertion and unauthorized absence of military personnel, foster the
development of effective deterrent programs, enhance apprehension efforts, and provide
