SUMMARY: This Instruction establishes policy, assigns responsibilities, and prescribes procedures for the educational leave program for continuing public and community service under Section 4463 of Public Law 102-484, "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1993," October 23, 1992. An eligible member on active duty may use educational leave to pursue a program of education or training, including an internship (hereafter referred to as "education or training") to develop skills relevant to the performance of public and community service.
