the Uniformed Services", 04/04/1996 SUMMARY: This Instruction reissues DoD Instruction 1205.12, September
11, 1967, to updateimplementation policy, assign responsibilities, and prescribe
procedures for informing Service members who are covered by the provisions of Chapter 43
of title 38, United States Code, and individuals who apply for uniformed service, of their
civilian employment and reemployment rights, benefits and obligations. This
instruction implements Chapter 43 of title 38, United States Code, which updated, codified
and strengthened the civilian employment and reemployment rights and benefits of Service
members and individuals who apply for uniformed service, and specifies the obligations of
