Medical and Public Health Law Site TITLE: DoD Directive 1035.1, "Telework Policy for
Department of Defense," 09/09/2002 SUMMARY: This Directive: 1.
Establishes an overarching policy governing telework (also known as
telecommuting) within the Department of Defense; 2. Assigns
responsibilities for telework; 3. Establishes the supervisor's
and/or commander's authority to assign official duties (including training) that
may be performed via telework; and 4. Implements the provisions of
section 359 of Public Law 106-346 and is consistent with Sections 101 and 206 of
title 37, United States Code; Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and
Readiness Memorandum, "Department of Defense Telework Policy and Guide for
Civilian Employees," October 22, 2001; title 10, United States Code; and title
